  1. Welcome to the world of Little Ark Interactive(tm). You and your child are
  2. about to experience a fun and fantastic learning environment where 
  3. characters and objects come alive and bring a whole new dimension 
  4. to learning about the Bible.

  6. Installation Instructions for Macintosh(R) and Windows(R)
  7.  
  8. Macintosh or Power Macintosh(R)
  9. To play The Story of Creation, simply insert the CD-ROM disc into your 
  10. CD-ROM drive.  Double-click the icon labeled "The Story of Creation" 
  11. to begin playing.

  15. To Install
  16. Begin at the Windows Program Manager to install the program.  Place the
  17. CD into your CD-ROM drive.  Choose "Run" under the "File" menu.  Type 
  18. D:\SETUP.EXE in the line labeled Command Line.  (If your CD-ROM drive 
  19. uses a letter other than D, substitute that letter for D.)  Click OK to
  20. begin the installation.  Follow the on-screen instructions to install 
  21. The Story of Creation.

  23. To Play
  24. A program group titled Little Ark Interactive will be created in the 
  25. Windows Program Manager and will contain an icon labeled "The Story of 
  26. Creation".  Double-click this icon to begin playing.

  28. Windows95 - Autoplay Instructions
  29.  
  30. To Install 
  31. Start at the Windows 95 desktop to install the program.  Place the CD 
  32. into your CD-ROM drive.  The The Story of Creation Startup window will 
  33. appear.  Click on the Install button and follow the on-screen 
  34. instructions to install the program.
  35.  
  36. To Play
  37. After successfully installing the program, click the Run button on the 
  38. Startup window to start the program.  The Startup window will appear 
  39. each time the CD is inserted into the CD-ROM drive.  If you prefer to 
  40. not see this screen and automatically launch The Story of Creation, 
  41. click on the check box at the bottom of the Startup window marked 
  42. "Show window next time you insert the CD" so that the check mark is 
  43. removed.  The next time the CD is inserted into the CD-ROM drive, The 
  44. Story of Creation will automatically launch. (Note: This autoplay 
  45. feature is not available if The Story of Creation Startup window does
  46. not automatically appear the first time the CD is inserted.)

  48. Windows 95 - Manual Instructions
  49.  
  50. To Install
  51. If the Little Ark Interactive Startup window does not appear
  52. automatically on screen, you can install the program manually by 
  53. starting at the Windows 95 desktop. Click on the Start button on the 
  54. task bar and choose Run.  Type D:\SETUP.EXE in the line labeled Open.  
  55. (If your CD-ROM drive uses a letter other than D, substitute that 
  56. letter for D.)  Click OK to begin the installation.  Follow the 
  57. on-screen instructions to install The Story of Creation.

  59. To Play
  60. After successfully installing the program, begin at the Windows 95 
  61. desktop. Click on the Start button and select Programs, and then Little
  62. Ark Interactive.  Click the "The Story of Creation"  menu item to begin
  63. playing.

  65. Select a Mode
  66.  
  67. READ The Story
  68. When you make this selection, your cursor will disappear as you see the
  69. book unfold page by page.  Your cursor will only reappear when you 
  70. return to the main selection screen after the book is finished.  You 
  71. can also use the space bar on your keyboard to exit the book.  Use the
  72. right or left arrow key on your keyboard to skip ahead or see an 
  73. earlier page in the book.  You can switch to "Explore the Story" mode
  74. by pressing "P" on your  keyboard.

  76. EXPLORE the Story
  77. When you click on this button, you'll be able to start exploring each 
  78. page after its introduction.  Use the mouse to select different items 
  79. you would like to see come to life on the screen.  There are many 
  80. hidden buttons on every page, so be sure to search carefully before 
  81. turning each page.  For example, be sure to click on all areas of the 
  82. page even when there are not objects present. You can switch to "Read 
  83. The Story" mode while reading the book by pressing "R" on your 
  84. keyboard.

  86. Options
  87. Clicking on this button takes you to the options page where you can go
  88. directly to any page in the book in interactive ("Explore the Story")
  89. mode.  You cannot jump into the story in passive ("Read The Story") 
  90. mode.  To go directly to a page, click the forward and backward arrows
  91. until you see the page number you want.  Then click "OK" to go to that 
  92. page.  To see a preview of upcoming Little Ark Interactive products, 
  93. click on the "Preview" button.

  95. Turning Pages
  96. To turn pages, click the arrows pointing right or left, located in the
  97. lower right and left corners of the screen, or press the right or left
  98. arrow on your keyboard.  To return to the main selection screen, click 
  99. on the page number at the bottom of each screen, or press the space 
  100. bar.
  101.  
  102. Shortcuts
  103. In either mode of play, you can press the command-M combination to 
  104. display or hide the menu bar, which will be hidden when play begins.
  105. To go directly to the Options Page from anywhere in the book use the 
  106. command-B combination.  Press the space bar from anywhere in the story
  107. to go directly to the main selection screen.  You can use the command 
  108. and the up or down arrow to adjust your computer's volume level.  Press 
  109. "R" for "Read The Story" and  "P" for "Explore the Story" on your 
  110. keyboard to change from one  mode to the other.  Press command-Q 
  111. combination from anywhere in the story to quit.
  112.  
  113. Memory
  114. Little Ark Interactive products are designed to use 4.5MB of memory in 
  115. your Macintosh.  You may not have that much memory available because of 
  116. Control Panels or Extensions that are enabled. In order to play, you 
  117. may need to disable some Control Panels or Extensions and restart your 
  118. computer to regain the memory  needed.

  120. Screen Savers
  121. If your computer has a software screen saver enabled it might interrupt
  122. Little Ark Interactive products, especially during the "Read The Story"
  123. mode.  Be sure to disable your screen saver software while using this 
  124. Living Book to avoid its interruption.
  125.  
  126. Virtual Memory
  127. Be sure to turn off virtual memory, close other windows and turn off 
  128. file sharing to allow Little Ark Interactive products to perform at 
  129. their intended level. Little Ark Interactive products are 32-bit clean.
  130.  
  131. Launcher and At Ease Users
  132. Launcher and At Ease (both products by Apple) are designed to provide 
  133. a simplified interface for you and your child. If Launcher or At Ease 
  134. programs are enabled when you try to use Little Ark Interactive 
  135. products, they may cause performance or sound problems. We recommend 
  136. that you turn off Launcher or At Ease before using Little Ark 
  137. Interactive products. It is possible to stop Launcher and At Ease 
  138. from automatically starting up each time you start your computer by
  139. dragging them out of the folder "StartUp Items" in your system folder.

  142. Windows Technical Notes
  143. Please see the Troubleshooting Guide supplied with this product for 
  144. more detailed technical information.

  146. Video Boards
  147. Some accelerated video boards with special device drivers or boards 
  148. made by specific manufacturers cause sporadic problems with Little Ark 
  149. Interactive products. We suggest you use the 640 x 480, 256 color 
  150. device driver designed for your video board. See your Windows manual 
  151. or the Troubleshooting Guide supplied with this product for 
  152. information on changing video drivers and other tips.

  154. Little Ark Interactive Limited 90-Day Warranty
  155. Little Ark Interactive guarantees for a period of ninety (90) days 
  156. following the original retail purchase of this copy of The Story of 
  157. Creation  that the program is free from substantial errors or defects 
  158. that will materially interfere with the operation of the program as 
  159. described in the enclosed user documentation. This policy applies to 
  160. the initial purchaser only.  If you believe you have found any error 
  161. or defect in the program during the warranty period, call Little Ark 
  162. Interactive Technical Support Department at 415/382-7818 from Monday 
  163. through Thursday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Friday
  164. from 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Pacific Time. Little Ark Interactive 
  165. technical personnel will attempt to help you correct or avoid the 
  166. problem. If any error or defect cannot be corrected or reasonably 
  167. avoided, Little Ark Interactive will inform you how to obtain a 
  168. corrected program disc (or, at Little Ark Interactive's option, may 
  169. authorize a refund of your purchase price).  This warranty
  170. gives you specific legal rights, and you may have additional rights 
  171. which vary from state to state.

  173. Disc Replacement Policy
  174. If any disc supplied with this product fails within ninety (90) days
  175. of purchase for any reason other than accident or misuse, please return
  176. the defective disc together with a dated proof of purchase to Little 
  177. Ark Interactive, c/o Software-Direct", P.O. Box 6144, Novato, CA 
  178. 94948-6144, for a free replacement. This policy applies to the original
  179. purchaser only.

  181. Little Ark Interactive will replace program discs damaged for any 
  182. reason, whether during or after the ninety (90) day free replacement 
  183. period, for a minimal fee.  For more information, please contact Little
  184. Ark Interactive Customer Service at 415/382-7818. This policy will be 
  185. followed as long as the program is still manufactured by Little Ark 
  186. Interactive.

  188. Limitations on Warranty
  189. Unauthorized representations: Little Ark Interactive warrants only that
  190. the program will perform as described in the user documentation. No 
  191. other advertising, description or representation, whether made by a 
  192. Little Ark Interactive dealer, distributor, agent or employee, shall be
  193. binding upon Little Ark Interactive or shall change the terms of this 
  194. warranty.

  196. Implied warranties limited: Except as stated above, Little Ark 
  197. Interactive makes no other warranty, express or implied, regarding 
  198. this product. Little Ark Interactive disclaims any warranty that the 
  199. software is fit for a particular purpose, and any implied warranty of 
  200. merchantability shall be limited to the ninety (90) day duration of 
  201. this limited express warranty and is otherwise expressly and 
  202. specifically disclaimed. Some states do not allow limitations on how 
  203. long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply 
  204. to you.

  206. No consequential damages: Little Ark Interactive shall not be 
  207. liable for special, incidental, consequential or other damages, even if
  208. Little Ark Interactive is advised of or aware of the possibility of 
  209. such damages.  This means that Little Ark Interactive shall not be 
  210. responsible or liable for lost profits or revenues, or for damages or
  211. costs incurred as a result of loss of time, data or use of the 
  212. software, or from any other cause except the actual cost of the 
  213. product. In no event shall Little Ark Interactive's liability exceed 
  214. the purchase price of this product. Some states do not allow the 
  215. exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the 
  216. above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.  You are entitled 
  217. to use this product for your own use, but may not sell or transfer 
  218. reproductions of the software or manual to other parties in any way, 
  219. nor rent or lease the product to others without the prior written 
  220. permission of Little Ark Interactive. You may use one copy of the 
  221. product on a single terminal connected to a single computer. You may
  222. not network the product or otherwise use it on more than one computer
